David de Gea transfer news: Odds SLASHED on Bayern Munich deal following Man Utd departure, Saudi Arabia favourites

BAYERN MUNICH have raced into contention to sign Spain goalkeeper David de Gea.

That's according to bookmakers Betfair, who've received a rush of bets on the former Manchester United stopper joining the Bundesliga champions on a free transfer this summer.

The 32-year-old is a free agent after his contract at the Old Trafford club ran out at the end of June.

De Gea was at United for 12 years having joined from Atletico Madrid for £18.9million in 2011, and his 545 appearances and 190 clean sheets are club records for a goalkeeper.

United have since signed goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan, who themselves are on the verge of clinching a deal for Bayern Munich's Yann Sommer as a replacement.

The goalkeeper merry-go-round could now see Bayern sign De Gea on a free transfer.

German newspaper Bild claim the Bavarian heavyweights have registered their interest in the Spaniard, who is in no rush to decide on his next club.

Bayern were previously offered at 12/1, but are now available at 11/4 to sign De Gea.

However, Saudi Arabia appears the most likely scenario for the 'keeper with Any Saudi Pro League club priced at 11/10 with bookmakers Betfair.

A return to his native Spain with Sevilla is next at 15/2, ahead of former club Atletico at 10s.

A move Stateside with any MLS club is priced at 12/1, ahead of 14/1 duo Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.

Valencia, Real Betis, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all offered between 20/1 and 33/1.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: "While David de Gea’s future remains uncertain, odds on the Spaniard to join Bayern Munich have been slashed to 11/4 from 12/1.

"The former Manchester United goalkeeper is 11/10 to join former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia next season, while Chelsea (25/1) are among the outsiders to land De Gea’s signature."
