De Gea next clubs odds: Los Blancos Key Favorites to Sign ex-United Star

David de Gea Quintana is now free to take on new adventures in the world of football, as his contract with Manchester United expired in July and he didn’t receive a contract renewal. In fact, Manchester United spent approximately €52.50m for Inter Milan’s Andre Onana who already made his unofficial debut with the red jersey in the game against Real Madrid on the 27 of July.

The Spanish goalkeeper spent over a decade at Old Trafford, during which he became a club legend. Fan-favorite de Gea has 545 official games with the Red Devils’ jersey and he will surely be forever remembered as one of the few world-class players that Manchester United had during these turbulent times.

There were talks that Manchester United and David de Gea would agree on a new contract at the end of last season, but things swiftly fell apart, as Dutch manager Erik ten Hag is looking to reshape his squad from top to bottom. David de Gea, good as he is, is no spring chicken. He will soon turn 33, meaning he no longer has his best days ahead of him. And Erik ten Hag is a manager looking into the future.

Now that David de Gea is no longer part of the club, are there any realistic candidates for his signature?

De Gea next club odds

Real Madrid – 1/4

The talks between Real Madrid and Spanish goalkeeper-in-chief De Gea are almost a done deal, according to the latest rumors. Los Blancos were hit with devastating news before the start of their La Liga campaign, as Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered an anterior cruciate ligament rupture during training session. The 31-year-old will most certainly be out for the better part of the 2023/24 season, leaving a giant hole at the back of coach Ancelotti’s starting XI.

A hole that could easily be filled by David de Gea’s unquestionable skills. Los Blancos could count themselves lucky that David de Gea is a free agent and he’ll certainly come cheap. All that is left is for the two sides to agree on the final terms of the deal.

Atletico Madrid’s fans will certainly not be happy about it, as prior to his Premier League adventure, David de Gea made a name for himself with Real Madrid’s nemesis.

Bayern Munich – 7/1

The Bavarian giants are in a similar predicament as Manchester United. No one questions Manuel Neuer’s skills, he’s one of the best goalkeepers of his generation. However, he’s going to turn 38 soon. Injuries constantly plague him, which often turns out problematic to Bayern Munich’s managers.

Furthermore, just a couple of days ago, Yann Sommer swapped Munich for Inter Milan on a €6.75m deal. Sven Ulreich is certainly not up to par with Bayern Munich’s standards, so it’s understandable why the bookmakers have Bayer Munich as the second-likeliest team to sign David de Gea.

Any Saudi Arabian club – 8/1

Last but certainly not least, we have one of the Saudi clubs as key favorites to get David de Gea on their side. There is a small chance that David de Gea might follow in the footsteps of Cristian Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Karim Benzema, and many more players. Al-Nassr looks most eager to have David de Gea, as a possible reunion between CR7 and David de Gea would certainly raise the interest of the Saudi Pro League. However, David de Gea doesn’t seem that eager to swing that way, as he believes he still has the chance to achieve something significant in Europe.
