Declan Rice next club odds: Arsenal lead Premier League quartet in race for West Ham superstar

Arsenal are the favourites to sign sought after England international and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice this summer.

talkSPORT BET have priced the current Premier League leaders at 3/1 to sign the 24-year-old midfielder this summer.

The England international has been in high demand for a number of transfer windows since becoming a stalwart in the West Ham side which finished sixth and seventh in the last two seasons and reached the semi finals of last season’s Europa League.

The 24-year-old was picked up by West Ham’s academy as a 14-year-old following his release by Chelsea in 2013.

And the Blues have long been linked a move to bring him back across London to Stamford Bridge.

Rice is closing in on 230 appearances for the Hammers, where he quickly became a fan favourite with the London Stadium faithful.

However, with West Ham lodged in a relegation battle this season and with just a year remaining on his contract, this summer looks set to be the one where Rice finally leaves east London after years of speculation.

Premier League leaders Arsenal have emerged as favourites to secure Rice’s signature, as the Gunners look to build a squad who can compete for titles in next season’s Premier League and Champions League.

Rice would add a perfect blend of youth and experience to Mikel Arteta’s dressing room, having been a crucial part of the England side that reached the final of Euro 2020 and the quarter finals at the last World Cup.

Arsenal’s current central midfielders, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny will all be in their 30s by the start of next season, and all bar Partey have just a year left on their contract.

Declan Rice transfer odds – Summer 2023 (talkSPORT BET)

  • Arsenal – 3/1
  • Chelsea – 8/1
  • Liverpool – 8/1
  • Manchester City – 8/1
  • Manchester United – 8/1
  • Newcastle – 12/1
  • Any French club – 12/1
  • Any German club – 12/1
  • Any Italian club – 12/1
  • Ant Spanish club – 12/1
  • Tottenham – 33/1

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all in a four-way tie for second place in the odds list, priced at 8/1 by talkSPORT BET.

The four clubs had all been thought to be tussling for the favourite tag prior to Arsenal’s emergence as Premier League title challengers.

With Chelsea having spent £550m on transfers this season, including breaking the English transfer record on another central midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, it seems unlikely they’d be willing to splash another sum close to (or maybe upwards of) nine figures on another player in the same position so quickly.

It’s thought the Blues also need to trim down their squad before they buy more due to the large amount of players they’ve brought on over the course of the season.

Naby Keita, Arthur Melo, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are all out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season, while Thiago only has one more year, so Liverpool are likely to be on the lookout for another midfielder.

It seems unlikely at this moment in time that Jurgen Klopp would be able to offer Rice Champions League football next season though, which could be a key factor in the Englishman’s thought process.

Ilkay Gundogan is also coming up to the end of his contract which expires this summer, so could be on the lookout for a replacement, but the club have bought players on long term contracts recently, such as Kalvin Phillips and Maximo Perrone, with others still with lenghty contracts.

Manchester United could well be a potential destination, with their probable return to Champions League football next season.

The Red Devils splashed out on Casemiro in the summer but Rice would certainly be an upgrade on Scott McTominay and Fred and the resurgence of the club as a genuine title contender this season could be of interest to the midfielder this summer.

Newcastle and Tottenham are the other Premier League sides in the picture, but are further behind in the pecking order at 12/1 and 33/1 respectively.
