Arsenal and Manchester United go head to head in a pre-season friendly on Saturday night (10pm BST) at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.

Both teams head into Saturday night's match, played at the home of both the New York Giants and the New York Jets, having played two pre-season friendlies prior each.

The Gunners have spent heavily this summer following their second place finish in the Premier League last season, as the club prepares for the demands of another push for the title as well as their first season back in the Champions League for seven years.

Mikel Arteta's side have recruited Kai Havertz from Chelsea, Jurrien Timber from Ajax, and most recently broke their transfer record to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice for £105m.

The Premier League runners up kicked off their pre-season with a 1-1 draw away at German second division side Nuremberg, in which star player Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for the Gunners.

The North London side then kicked off their US trip with a 5-0 victory over the MLS All-Stars, managed by Wayne Rooney, in which Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli and Havertz all found the back of the net.

Following Saturday's match with Man Utd, the Gunners will then travel to Los Angeles to take on Barcelona, before a final friendly at home to Monaco before their domestic season gets underway with the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley on 6th August.

Manchester United had an impressive first season under Erik ten Hag last time out, with the Dutchman leading them to a third place finish, a vast improvement on the sixth place finish they endured the season prior.

Ten Hag has also been busy in the transfer market, and like the Gunners, have raided Stamford Bridge for an attacking midfielder, having signed England international Mason Mount for around £60m.

The Red Devils are also on the verge of signing a replacement for long term goalkeeper David de Gea, who has left Old Trafford after 12 years with the club, in the Inter Milan shot stopper Andre Onana.

Jonny Evans has also returned to the club he spent 11 years with on a short term contract that spans just the length of their pre-season America tour.

The Red Devils' pre-season got underway with a 2-0 win over Leeds in Norway last week in which youngsters Noam Emeran and Joe Hugill were on the scoresheet, and followed that up with a 1-0 win over Lyon in Edinburgh, in which Donny van de Beek scored the only goal of the game.

Saturday's match marks the start of their four-game long tour of the USA, which also sees them take on League Two side Wrexham as well as Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

United then return home where they'll play Ligue 1 side Lens in a friendly before their final game against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin before their Premier League season starts with a home game against Wolves on 14th August.

Arsenal and Manchester United won one game each in their two meetings last season, the home team winning on each occasion.
