Derby runner-up Hoo Ya Mal on track for Melbourne Cup after March Stakes success

Hoo Ya Mal won the March Stakes by two and a half lengths. He was the Derby runner-up. The horse will train at Doncaster next month before heading to Australia for a tilt at the lucrative Melbourne Cup. He will be trained by Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse. His trainer George Boughey is hoping to train him for the Cazoo St Leger. Hoo YaMal was bought by an Australian syndicate for £1.2 million in June. It was unchanged at 8-1 for Classic with Paddy Power and introduced at 16-5 for Melbourne. For the latter half of the Melbourne Spring Carnival, he will join Adrian and Waterhouses.
