Detroit Red Wings vs. Vancouver Canucks Game 52 Preview and Odds

The Detroit Red Wings will begin a five-game west coast road trip Monday evening in Vancouver. That same Canucks team Detroit hammered 5-2 at home this past Saturday behind a pair of goals from captain Dylan Larkin and rookie winger Jonatan Berggren.

The Red Wings players hoped to make things tough on general manager Steve Yzerman coming out of the All-Star break. Detroit hopes to string together a few wins and at least remain in the fold for a final Wild Card position. Detroit is coming off back-to-back wins over Calgary and Vancouver.

The Canucks are led by star center Elias Pettersson, who will surely be the team’s next captain following the trade of Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders a couple of weeks ago. Other players to watch out for are Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller. The Canucks are a rebuilding squad but have a couple of nice pieces. Brock Boeser seems to be at the center of Vancouver’s trade talks now that Horvat is gone; there were 17 scouts in attendance to take in the Red Wings, Canucks game on Saturday.

Of course, the Red Wings will likely be at the center of trade discussions moving forward as well. Tyler Bertuzzi will be Yzerman’s biggest trade chip. This past Saturday night, on SportsNet’s broadcast, Jeff Marek mentioned that Yzerman is looking for a substantial return for Bertuzzi after a contract extension failed to be reached. Marek claims Dallas, Edmonton, and Tampa Bay have shown the most interest of late.

The Detroit Red Wings will undoubtedly have an opportunity to make it three consecutive victories before heading to Edmonton on Wednesday.

Detroit Red Wings game information

The Red Wings should be able to stay in the win column if they go out and score. Keeping Pettersson, Boeser, and Miller off the scoresheet will be vital.
