The Texas Rangers and the Detroit Tigers meet Tuesday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Monday opener, the Rangers notched a shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Rangers

Texas played the Orioles over the weekend, winning the first two games before a Sunday loss 3-2. On Monday versus Detroit, the Rangers posted 10 team hits in a 5-0 win. Nathan Eovaldi put up 5.0 frames in the start with four hits, three walks and four Ks.

For the starter job on Tuesday the Rangers will send out Martin Perez. Over his 10 starts this year Perez is 6-1 with a 3.83 ERA and 41 Ks in 56.1 innings. Perez is 81-78 with a 4.41 ERA in 263 career games (233 starts).

Detroit Tigers

Over on the Detroit side, they managed three wins in four games versus the White Sox over the weekend. On Monday the Tigers gave up three runs in the fifth on the way to the loss. Starter Matthew Boyd lasted 6.0 innings with five earned, five hits and four walks.

It’ll be Alex Faedo in the starting role for the Tigers on Tuesday. Across four starts so far this year Faedo is 1-2 with a 4.15 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 21.2 innings. In his career Faedo is 2-7 with a 5.14 ERA in 16 starts total.

The Rangers are 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games. The over is 6-2 in Texas’ last eight Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 51-111 in the last 162 versus the AL West and 0-6 in their last six in game two of a series. The under is 6-0 in Detroit’s last six Tuesday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with the Rangers in this one. Perez has won his last pair of starts, and he’s got good numbers in those. Over 14.0 combined innings, Perez has just four earned on 13 hits and two walks total. He should be able to get Texas in to a nice position here. On Monday the Rangers did a pretty solid job offensively with the two big innings. Seven different players had hits, and the pitching backed up the batters on the other side. I like the Rangers to keep it going in game two.
