Diamondbacks Continue Underdog Story in 4-2 Win Over Dodgers

Four games in, and the Arizona Diamondbacks still remain undefeated in their 2023 postseason run, as they are now just one win away from advancing to the National League Championship Series.

Similar to Game 1, the Diamondbacks jumped out to an early lead against the 100-win Dodgers.

With Bobby Miller on the mound for Los Angeles, the Diamondbacks loaded the bases before fans finished filing into their seats.

All three runners on the basepaths ended up scoring, which provided D-backs’ ace Zac Gallen with a nice cushion before he even stepped foot on the mound.

While Gallen did get into some trouble, he managed to fight his way out of some tight jams and only allowed two earned runs through 5.1 innings.

Then, in the bullpen, the Diamondbacks relievers continued their dominance during this postseason run.

Andrew Saalfrank, who made his major league debut a month ago, Ryan Thompson, Kevin Ginkel, and Paul Sewald combined for 3.2 shutout innings.

Leading the offensive charge for Arizona was Lourdes Gurriel Jr., as he accounted for two of the Diamondbacks four RBIs, including a home run into the left field bleachers during the 6th inning.

Now, after picking up two wins against all odds in Los Angeles, the Diamondbacks will head back to Chase Field with a chance to advance in front of the home crowd.

This Game 3 matchup is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
