Diego Schwartzman vs Marcos Giron prediction and odds: Cincinnati Open 2023

Diego Schwartzman has made it into the Cincinnati Open qualifying draw as a wildcard, and he will face the 13th seed, Marcos Giron later today. This should be a great match, and if you’re interested in finding a few valuable betting tips, simply check out the information below.

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Schwartzman vs Giron – match predictions

Of the many qualifying games taking place in Cincinnati today, this is one of the most intriguing of them all. Both Marcos Giron and Diego Schwartzman were playing great tennis last week at the Canadian Open. And to be honest, they are both good enough to compete in the main draw of the Western & Southern Open this year.

Yet as things stand, they are facing each other in the first round of qualifying, and here’s what I think the best tennis predictions today are for this match:

Giron to win

Although they both played great tennis last week, I believe Giron is the better hard-court player. He hits a flatter ball than Schwartzman, and he has a better serve on hard courts too. Furthermore, he has beaten Schwartzman in both of their previous meetings.

Over 21.5 games

While I do think that Giron will win the match, I don’t expect it to be easy. In fact, I believe it could be quite a close contest, although I feel that Giron will edge it regardless of the score. So because of that, it makes sense to cover the over 21.5 games market, which could occur in two close sets or if the match goes the distance.

Schwartzman vs Giron preview

With both of these guys being top 100 players as things stand, you are probably familiar with them. But nevertheless, it always helps to read a preview before betting on any match!

Diego Schwartzman preview

Schwartzman has been at the very top of the game in years gone by, yet he has definitely drifted in the 2023 season. In fact, he is now down at 98 in the rankings, which is why he is involved in qualifying for these tournaments. However, last week he did qualify for the Canadian Open, and he lost to the man that is now in the semi-finals in three sets – Tommy Paul.

Marcos Giron preview

Much like Diego Schwartzman, Marcos Giron also qualified for the Canadian Open last week. He was then given a pretty tough draw against Ruusuvuori in his opener, yet he beat him in two close sets. After that, he faced the 5th seed, Holger Rune, and Giron also beat him in three sets, which is huge. So for me, this shows that Giron is playing well and that he will be confident.

Schwartzman vs Giron head to head

These two have played twice in the past, and it’s Giron that leads with a 2-0 head-to-head record against Schwartzman. As for the importance of these matches, Giron beat Schwartzman on a hard court in 2021, in two tie-break sets. Yet he has also beaten Schwartzman on the Argentine’s favorite surface, which is clay, and this was also in straight sets in 2022.
