Iga Swiatek vs Danielle Collins prediction and odds: Cincinnati Open 2023

We are about to witness a repeat of the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open from last week. It’s time for yet another clash of Swiatek vs Collins, and I expect this one to be a great match. As for my tennis predictions today for the upcoming game, these can be viewed below.

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Swiatek vs Collins – match predictions

As the world number one and number 1 seed, Iga Swiatek is obviously the favorite to win this match. However, Danielle Collins pushed her close in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open last week.

So with that in mind, while Swiatek will be the likely winner, I believe there are a couple of valuable markets that should be backed. These are identified below:

Collins to win a set – yes

There are a couple of reasons why I believe that Collins will secure a set in this match. Firstly, she took a set from Iga Swiatek just last week, which is about as recent as you can get in tennis. Secondly, she’s beaten Swiatek in the past, which will give her belief for this game.

Over 19.5 games

I’m going for a lower figure for the over/under market than normal, mainly because this market has competitive odds while still having a high chance of success. When you consider that their match last week involved 27 games, the signs are strong for a contest involving over 19.5 games this afternoon. This would pull through if the match had two tight sets, and it’s essentially guaranteed if the match goes three sets.

Swiatek vs Collins preview

This is the 5th time that these two will play. But before they clash in the Western & Southern Open this afternoon, let me share a quick preview.

Iga Swiatek preview

As you all know, Iga Swiatek is the world number one, and she’s at the top of the tree for many reasons. With this said, she looked a little vulnerable at the Canadian Open last week. In fact, some might even say that she looked like she was doubting herself, which is rare for Swiatek. Therefore, this makes for an interesting match today.

Danielle Collins preview

Danielle Collins is playing great tennis right now – more so when you consider that she’s still on the comeback from injury. Of course, she made the quarter-finals last week before losing to Swiatek in three sets. And this helped her to earn one of the Cincinnati Open wildcards this week. As for her first-round match, she destroyed Pavlyunchenkova in style.

Swiatek vs Collins head to head

The head-to-head between these two stands at 3-1 in favor of Swiatek. Yet the first time they met, which was in 2021, Collins retired mid-match, so some might say that this result shouldn’t count. Anyway, as per the official records, it does. As for the other three contests, they’ve both dismantled the other on a hard court in the past. Yet their most recent match, which was last week, resulted in a tough three-set battle that Swiatek ultimately won.
