The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular-season championship is on the line Saturday night at Duke (-4.5) when the Blue Devils seek to avenge a February loss to North Carolina.

Below, we have our Duke vs. North Carolina odds, preview and pick for the action at 6:30 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham.

North Carolina vs. Duke odds, preview and picks - March 9 college basketball

Two of the nation’s premier college basketball programs meet to decide not only the ACC regular-season title, but also their seeding in the NCAA Tournament.

North Carolina can win the ACC title outright with a victory over Duke. The Blue Devils need to beat UNC for a share of the ACC title.

North Carolina won the first meeting, 93-84, on Feb. 3. In that first meeting, North Carolina led by 10 points at halftime and Duke never mounted a second-half charge.

Tar Heels forward Harrison Ingram made 5-of-9 3-pointers in scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for North Carolina. Armando Bacot was a force inside with 25 points.

Duke had four players in double figures vs. UNC — Jared McCain (23), Kyle Filipowski (22), Jeremy Roach (20) and Mark Mitchell (11).

Saturday’s game could come down to whether Duke’s guards can make enough shots to control the game and slow down North Carolina’s running game. The Tar Heels run after every missed shot or turnover. UNC had nine steals to Duke’s four in the first meeting and outscored Duke 19-7 in points off turnovers.

Duke is 24-6, 15-4 ACC, 18-12 against the spread. North Carolina is 24-6, 16-3, 16-13-1 ATS.

Home-court advantage at Duke is intimidating and could be enough to carry the Blue Devils. But these rivalry games tend to be tight, so we expect North Carolina to cover.

With NC online sports betting going live just in time for the 2024 ACC Tournament and the larger NCAA Tournament, there will be a considerable buzz around North Carolina betting apps such as Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, Bet365 and BetMGM.

North Carolinians will be able to wager on all ACC and NCAA Tournament games, including ones featuring Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest and other in-state programs. A huge range of professional sports will be available along with local teams such as the Carolina Hurricanes and Charlotte Hornets. The Carolina Panthers will become a huge part of the North Carolina betting scene in the fall when the NFL arrives, as will collegiate football programs around the state.

While retail sports betting in North Carolina was legalized in 2019, NC online sports betting was officially signed into law on June 14, 2023 by Governor Roy Cooper. Initial plans called for a January 2024 launch, but delays pushed the project past the Super Bowl before plans were drawn up for March.

With a huge betting menu and an open market featuring multiple sportsbooks, the Tar Heel State is projected to take in $7 billion worth of bets in the first year as the industry creates a new stream of tax revenue for the state.
