Early World Series Odds Break MLB Teams Into Clear Tiers

The MLB offseason is winding down. The pitchers and catchers will report to start another full baseball season. There are playoffs left and the World Series is less than a month away.

There are four teams with odds under 1000 to win the World Series. The Houston Astros are the reigning World Champion. They are expected to make it through the regular season and win it. New York Yankees and New Yorkers are also among the top contenders. Los Angeles Dodgers are a tick behind them in the odds. The New Mets are tied for the best odds in baseball. Their spending spree has boosted their odds, but they are still short of the other top teams. It's unlikely that Carlos Correa will start at third base for them.

Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres are the clear 1B to the 1A in their respective divisions. Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners are young teams who are ready to win now. Philadelphia Phillies are third in the World Series odds in a division where they finished 14 games better than the team who finished the regular season 14 years ago.  The early World series odds break MLB teams into clear Tiers. The odds between +1000 and +2000 are for teams with odds of between -1000 to + 2000.

The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians are the early favorites to make it out of the AL Central. Tampa Bay Rays and St. Louis Cardinals are also among the favourites. The odds for the World Series are currently at +2500. The Twins are not expected to be as good as last year.

The Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles are the next tiers. The Giants are betting on franchise pedigree and hope their veteran additions will put them in position to be a Wild Card team. The Twins are hoping their roster finds it in them to compete in a bad AL Central or has a path to a wild card. MLB teams are divided into clear tiers based on their chances of winning the World Series.

The Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs are two of the most successful franchises in baseball. They are still years away from serious contention. The Red Sides have signed Rafael Devers and Dansby Swanson to long-term contracts.

There are nine teams who are not considered good bets to win the World Series in 2023. The Miami Marlins are an interesting team because of their pitching. Other than that, it's hard to buy stock in the following teams: Royals, Tigers, Rockies, Pirates, Reds, Nationals, Athletics.
