Echo Zulu Obliterates Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Field

Echo Zulu won Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies on Friday at Del Mar. The 2-year-old Gun Runner filly was ridden by Joel Rosario instead of regular rider Ricardo Santana, Jr. She was the overwhelming favorite. Juju's Map finished second, a half-length ahead of Tarabi. The win improves Echo Zul's lifetime record to a perfect four-for-four and all but clinched the Eclipse Award for champion 2 year old fillie. It was her first start since July. Her most recent start was a 7 1/4-mile demolishing of the G1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park on Oct. 3.

Brad Cox's Juju's Map finished second. Cherie DeVaux's Tarabi finished third. Bret Calhoun's Hidden Connection finished fourth. He had higher expectations for his horse. He's disappointed with Reylu. The horse didn't have the answer today. It's no disrespect to run third to a champion.
