Everton vs Man City best odds

EPL predictions for Everton vs Man City

This Wednesday, we have three Premier League games, the best of which is Everton vs Man City. The two teams entered Christmas 11 positions apart in the Premier League table, separated by 18 points. If you consider the fact that Everton have been docked 10 points, then it starts to show that perhaps the gulf between the two teams isn’t as wide as it’s been in other seasons.

That’s in part down to this Man City team struggling to reach their previous quality. They’ve dropped points in seven of 17 games, something unheard of in past seasons. They lost some big names this summer like Ilkay Gundogan but the reality is we’re probably experiencing the tail end of the hangover from last year’s treble.

I still have faith in this team's ability to win games, which is why my best bet is for Man City to win and both teams to score, which you can grab at a big price of +215. That feels like a really good value bet when you consider what we’ve seen from both of these teams so far this season.

Man City looked good in the Club World Cup even if it was against inferior opposition and teams that would struggle to beat Everton. The front four of Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Bernardo Silva is exceptional and should be able to break down the tight defensive unit that Sean Dyche will deploy.

Before the Christmas break, this Man City team had scored more goals than any other team in the Premier League with 40, despite playing a game less than the majority of other teams. They’ve scored at least two goals in each of their past five games in all competitions.

The issue for Man City has been at the other end of the pitch where they’ve let in far too many goals, conceding four more than both title challengers Arsenal and Liverpool despite playing one fewer game. It feels like this Man City team gives opponents chances more than they have in previous years where they felt almost unbeatable, especially if they scored first. That’s something that will give Everton hope.

Man City have played nine Premier League games away from home this season and they’ve let the opposition score in seven of them, that includes goals from Sheffield United, Luton, and Wolves, teams who aren’t amongst the best in the league.

Everton started the season slow but they’ve improved as it’s progressed and in 13 Premier League games since mid-September, they’ve scored in 11 of them. I think they’ll be able to get on the scoresheet against Man City but I don’t believe that they’ll have the ability to win the game outright with City able to bag a couple of goals and take the three points.

Everton vs Man City same-game parlay

Man City moneylineBoth teams to score

Jack Grealish anytime goal

Man City might only have won one of their past three in the Premier League but a crisis by their standards is still better than what the rest of the league can dream of. They bounced back by winning the Club World Cup and now face a team in Everton who, despite being good, they should beat.

We know Man City are great in front of goal. They’ve got a great array of attacking talent and at the time of writing have scored more goals than anybody else in the Premier League despite playing one fewer game than their nearest rivals. That said, they have allowed their opposition to score in all but two of their games away from the Etihad this season. Everton have the players to be able to score.

Finally, we’re going to back Man City’s star Jack Grealish to score. He’s had a good run lately with Jeremy Doku dealing with an injury. That’s led to a nice run for him in which he’s scored three times in his past six appearances.

Everton vs Man City side and Over/Under analysis

I’m backing Man City to win but I wouldn’t bet on them winning on the moneyline alone. You’re getting odds of -182, which simply don’t appeal given the stakes you’d need to place to get a big return and the unpredictability of the Premier League.

That said, I also wouldn’t be backing Everton at +450 or the draw at +320. Man City really should win this but there are better ways to profit on this game.

The bookies are expecting goals with Over 2.5 at -133 and Under 2.5 at +110. I think we’re going to see plenty of goals here.

Half of Everton’s games this season have been Over 2.5 goals and now, against top opposition, I’d expect it to land, especially given that we’ve seen Over 2.5 goals in 77.8% of Man City’s away games, with the only exceptions being against good defenses in Aston Villa and Arsenal.
