Man City vs Chelsea best odds

EPL predictions for Man City vs Chelsea

We’ve got a big slate of Premier League games on Saturday with seven to enjoy, the final one sees Manchester City vs. Chelsea, a clash between two of the biggest clubs in the world, even if they aren’t quite equals on the pitch currently.

For Man City success has been easy. Last season they won the treble and already have become FIFA Club World Cup Champions and now come into this game just two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool. Earlier in the season it looked like City were struggling and that it was potentially a title race between Liverpool and Arsenal. Then Man City got themselves back to their best and have now won 11 games in a row across all competitions and haven’t lost a game since early December.

The same can’t be said for Chelsea who are experiencing a very confusing season. They’re 10th in the Premier League heading into this game and have at times looked great and at others awful. With two wins and two defeats in their past four Premier League games it shows just how disjointed they’ve been. Those four games have seen them pick up two wins against London rivals Fulham and Crystal Palace, but then give up eight goals combined to Liverpool and Wolves. That poor form from Chelsea is one of the reasons that our best bet for the game is for Man City to be winning at halftime and at full-time, at odds of -129.

City’s 11-game winning streak has been hugely impressive and it’s seen them play a lot of games in a short period since the first game in the streak on 20 December in the Club World Cup. In those 11 games, they’ve scored an incredible 32 goals, just under three per game. It’s fair to point out that the quality of opposition in Club World Cup and FA Cup might impact that but it’s still an important stat regardless and shows just how good they’ve been in front of goal.

Another essential stat to know when highlighting this bet is that Man City has been incredible at home this season. They are one of just two teams, along with Liverpool, who are yet to lose at home and they’ve scored 29 goals in the 11 home games in the Premier League.

What also matters is that they’ve been winning at halftime in 10 of those 11 games. They’re a team packed with firepower and in front of their home crowd, they’re very adept at scoring early and then continuing to build on their leads.

With City’s great pool of attacking players, and finally having both Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne available for selection, we’re likely to see them continue to play well vs. a Chelsea team who have been winning at halftime in just two of 12 Premier League road games this season.

My best bet: Man City/Man City (HT/FT) (-129 at TonyBet)

Man City vs Chelsea same-game parlay

Man City/Man City HT/FTBoth teams to score — Yes

Kevin De Bruyne to score or assist

We are adding two more legs to our best bet of Man City to be winning at halftime and full-time against Chelsea. The first of those additional legs is for both teams to score. Man City are averaging over a goal against per game in the Premier League this season and if you check their past four results you can see that both teams have scored in three of those games. Both Teams to Score has also landed in 63.6% of Man City’s league games at the Eithad this season, while Chelsea have scored in 10 of their 12 games on the road.

The final leg in this Same-Game Parlay is another simple one that’s supported well by data, which is for Kevin De Bruyne to either score or assist against his former team. The Belgian has been brilliant since he returned from injury after five months out. He’s played seven games since then, of which just three have been starts. Despite that he’s still racked up two goals and six assists, averaging a goal contribution every 45 minutes since he returned from injury.

Man City vs Chelsea side and Over/Under analysis

We should see Man City get the three points on Saturday but I’d understand if you didn’t want to wager them on the moneyline at odds of -278. As brilliant as they are it’s unwise to bet on any team in the Premier League to win a game at odds as short as that, instead you can work other ways around it, for example backing Man City to win at halftime or full-time, as I have above, or alternatively, Man City to win and Both Teams to Score. If you want to bet against Man City you can get the draw at +459 or the away win at +680.

You’re also not getting good value on the Total Goals market with Over 2.5 goals coming in at -209, a number that makes it a hard task to bet. Despite that, it’s a bet that really should land given that it has in 75% of Chelsea’s Premier League away games this season and 69.6% of all of City’s Premier League games.
