EPL predictions for Arsenal vs Man City

Sunday is the final day of Premier League action before the international break and amongst an exciting slate of games is a hugely anticipated meeting between Arsenal and Man City. It’s a game that could have huge ramifications on the destination of the Premier League this season. Coming into the weekend Manchester City were top, with Arsenal one point behind in third place, with both teams sandwiching Spurs. Just one point behind them is Liverpool, with the top four all hoping to be able to make a serious title challenge this year.

Last year it was a tight battle throughout the season between Arsenal and Man City, with Pep Guardiola’s team simply having too much quality and winning the Premier League after a near faultless second half of the season. Both teams made moves in the summer with Arsenal and Man City both strengthening their teams with the likes of Declan Rice and Josko Gvardiol arriving

There is serious quality in both teams and this matchup is a hard one to predict but we have to make Man City our best bet at odds of +140. It’s very rare that you can more than double your money by wagering on Man City and despite facing a great Arsenal team, this feels like a real opportunity.

In many ways this game could be decided by those players who aren’t playing and how each team will be able to cope without integral players. Man City have been without Kevin De Bruyne for some time now and clearly miss the Belgian, while the excellent Rodri is serving the third and final match of his three-game ban. We know those two won’t play, whereas for Arsenal we’re sweating over Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Martinelli would be a big loss down that right flank, while Saka, who went off against Lens on Tuesday, would be impossible to replace. Mikel Arteta’s attack relies heavily on Saka and Arsenal will be weaker without him, that said it’ll be a difficult decision to bring him back if he isn’t 100% fit, after all this is a player who has played a lot of games at a young age and the team can’t afford to risk his career by overworking him or pushing him through injuries. I don’t think we’ll see either of the Arsenal wide players in the starting lineup, although they might make the bench. That’s something that would firmly push the needle to Man City being strong favorites, such are the importance of Martinelli and Saka to how Arsenal attack teams. Without that face and directness, they’ll need to rely on Leandro Trossard and an out-of-position Gabriel Jesus, who don’t pose the same threats as the aforementioned duo.

When it comes to big games, especially between these two clubs, it’s Man City that has had the upper hand. City have won five of the last six meetings between the two clubs in all competitions, scoring 16 goals to Arsenal’s four. It’s also worth noting that Arsenal’s only win in that time was August’s Community Shield, a game which is effectively a friendly and one which they only won after a penalty shootout, with the game being tied after 90 minutes.

Manchester City are the best team of the modern era, coached by one of the best minds the game has ever seen, they’re packed with dangerous world-class players and have an incredible record against the Gunners. Don’t overthink this one, grab that +140 while you can.

Arsenal vs Man City same-game parlay

Man City moneyline

Erling Haaland anytime goal

Ben white Over 0.5 fouls committed

We’re getting a big +400 on our Same-Game Parlay for Arsenal vs Man City and I’ve got to say, I love the look of this one.

First up we’re going with our best bet for Arsenal vs Man City, which was for Man City to win. We went through all the reasoning above but this is a team who are arguably the best in the Premier League’s history and who have a great record against Arsenal. With both Martinelli and Saka doubts for this game, I think that gives Guardiola’s team the advantage.

The second wager for the game is for Erling Haaland to score. It feels like we’re not talking about the Norwegian’s brilliance as much this season but it’s worth flagging that he’s still scored eight goals in seven Premier League goals and is the player most likely to find the back of the net against Arsenal.

The final leg of our Arsenal vs Man City SGP is for Ben White, Arsenal rightback, to commit Over 0.5 fouls. So far this season he’s only committed an average of 0.4 fouls per game and is generally very good at not diving in or making rash tackles. However this Sunday he’s going to be up against whoever Guardiola selects on the left flank of City’s attack. That’s likely to be Jeremy Doku or potentially even Jack Grealish. So far in his four Premier League appearances, Doku has been fouled 2.5 times per game, with his pace and quick feet causing headaches for defenders. Grealish seems to be spending a lot of time on the bench this season but when used he’s averaged 1.5 fouls against per game, which isn’t bad when half of his four appearances have been from the bench.

Arsenal vs Man City side and Over/Under analysis

If you have a strong lean on either team then big odds are available, with +185 on Arsenal and +140 on the away side, Man City. If you think we could see a tie then you can get +250. As mentioned as my best bet, I think City are the team to beat here. They’re an exceptional side and Guardiola has generally had the edge on Arteta since his former protegee moved to North London.

Bookies are expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals coming in at -130 and the Under at +105. I have no strong feeling either way but if forced I’d probably lean to the Under, because of the injuries in Arsenal’s attack and the potentially cagey nature in which this game could be played out.
