Ex-Yankees slugger could join Cardinals’ coaching staff, report says
Skip Schumaker left Tuesday to become the new manager of the Miami Marlins. The Cardinals have internal candidates to replace him as bench coach. Matt Holliday is close with Marmol and has had talks about a role with the organization.
Holliday was a 15-year MLB veteran who spent eight seasons in St. Louis. He was with the New York Yankees for the 2017 season and hit a career-worst .231 in 105 games. Holliday returned to the Colorado Rockies in 2018 for his final big-league season.
