Ex-Yankees slugger named Cardinals bench coach
Matt Holliday has been named the new bench coach for the Cardinals. He takes over for Skip Schumaker, who left to replace Don Mattingly as manager of the Miami Marlins. Hollidays joins the stuff run by a close friend, manager Oliver Marmol.
Holliday will be the Cardinals bench coach. He will have a role with the hitters and a liaison between the manager and the clubhouse. Holliday spent eight seasons in St. Louis and helped them win the World Series in 2011. The left fielder was a seven-time All-Star and four-times Silver Slugger Award recipient. In 2017 he played for the New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies.
