F1 news 2022: Eerie scenes at abandoned $950m track in Hanoi, Vietnamese Grand Prix
The inaugural Vietnamese Grand Prix was cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The spectator stands have been removed and most of Hanoi's motor race circuit is empty. Vietnam inked a 10-year deal with Formula 1 in 2018. It cost Vietnam AU$95 million a year. Honoi was absent from the 2023 race schedule announced last month. The city mayor Nguyen Duc Chung was arrested and jailed for corruption. He was a major supporter of F1 in Vietnam. State media said in June last year that Hoonan won't host the race between 2022 and 2029.
