Vietnam's F1 track is abandoned as hopes fade for debut Grand Prix in Hanoi. The inaugural Vietnamese Grand prix was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of HANOI's motor race circuit is empty.

Vietnam signed a 10-year deal with Formula 1 in 2018. The cost of the deal was US$60 million a year. Vietnam's largest private conglomerate, VinGroup, was hoping to stage a night race. It was cancelled after 2020. Mayor Nguyen Duc Chung was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in jail on corruption charges. Hanoi was absent from the 2023 race schedule announced last month.
