F1 Takeaways: Red Bull rains on Ferrari's parade with 1-2 finish at Imola

Max Verstappen won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. It was Ferrari's first home race since the Italian Grand prix. Carlos Sainz crashed out on the first lap and Charles Leclerc made an error that cost him a podium spot.

Carlos Sainz has a new contract with Ferrari. He finished P4 in the sprint race on Saturday. Saine got tangled up with Daniel Ricciardo on the first lap and spun off the course. It was the second consecutive retirement for him following the Australian GP.

Leclerc lost seven points and finished P6 in the race. He still leads the championship by 26 points. The difference between Ferrari and Red Bull in constructors' standings is now 11 points, as Verstappen closed the gap further.

Verstappen won the Italian Grand Prix from pole position. He also scored a bonus point for the sprint race. It was a rare Red Bull 1-2 finish. Ricciardo finished second. It's been six years since the last time Red Bulls finished 1/2 in the same place.

Norris finished second at Imola for the second time this season. Ricciardo finished in P18 after his collision with Sainz. He did not receive a penalty for it.

Red Bull finished 1-2 at Imola. Lewis Hamilton finished P13, his worst result since Azerbaijan last season.

Hamilton finished behind Pierre Gasly and Max Verstappen. George Russell finished fourth after starting 11th on the grid. He had some good battles with Valtteri Bottas, who's now at Alfa Romeo.

Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll picked up their first points of the season for Aston Martin. Nicholas Latifi finished 16th for the third time in four races this season. Mick Schumacher finished P17 for Haas. Formula One will cross the pond for inaugural Miami Grand Prix on May 8.
