FAMU Football: A deeper look at the Rattlers' 11 early signees
Florida A&M football signed 11 players during the Early Signing Day. The Rattlers are ranked No. 2 in 247Sports' HBCU recruiting rankings behind SWAC rival Jackson State and No 6 in overall FCS recruiting.
FAMU signed four running backs, including Kelvin Dean Jr. from Florida Atlantic and Jaquez Yant from Nebraska. FAMU's offensive line is expected to return, but new guard Ashton Grable is coming from Jacksonville State to compete for a spot. Jamari Gassett from Buffalo will be the top receiving option for Jeremy Moussa in 2023.
Isaiah Land and BJ Bohler are headed to the 2023 NFL Draft. FAMU signed Tyrese Gibson-Battles and Cherif Seye as defensive linemen. Ah'Mare Lee is a cornerback who will transfer from UCF as a redshirt sophomore. Jalen Glaze and Deco Wilson will provide safety depth.
Trey Wilhoit, a Lawton-Chiles alumnus, signed on to punt for FAMU. He will replace graduating All-American Punter Chris Faddoul. Levontai 'Bo' Summersett, the Rattlers' only high school early signee, chose them over offers from Miami, Tennessee and Georgia Tech. Summerset played running back and wide receiver at North Fort Myers High School.
