First-ever male PDC Darts dancer has fans in stitches

History was made at the Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship as the competition saw it's first ever male dancer.

The on-stage dancers provide the extra sprinkling of glamour and showbusiness all darts fans love. Whether it is dancing to the walk-out tunes of each player, interacting with the crowd or simply entertaining the fans with their dance routines, nights at Ally Pally would not be the same without them.

However, there was a brief break from tradition as a male dancer joined the cheerleading troop on stage for the first time ever. But upon closer inspection, viewers at home and supporters at the event noticed that the male dancer was actually former BBC Radio One star and co-host of 'That Peter Crouch Podcast' Chris Stark.

The beloved DJ and right hand man to the former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool ace whacked on a bright green cheerleading outfit and waved the pom-poms like he was born to do it. Stark, 36, had to get on stage as a forfeit, after he lost a football prediction challenge in a recent episode of the podcast.

The history-making punishment was specifically chosen by Crouch and ex-Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell. Stark had to dance to the tune of some background music chosen by the former Premier League stars when they walked on the stage.

“It’s happening either way so I’m ready to go. I’ve got the routine down and I have a brilliant team around me he. I just don’t want to let anyone down here today,” Stark admitted ahead of the performance.

Before the DJ's surprise dancing debut, Crouch also added: “I’m slightly nervous for him now!” However, his moves went down a treat for the darts fans, who certainly got a lot more than they bargained for.

Paddy Power spokesperson Rachael Kane said: “When we heard Crouchy and co were on the lookout for the ultimate challenge for Chris Stark after he failed so miserably on his footie guesswork, we felt it was our duty to do everything in our power to facilitate with a suggestion.

"Making him part of Ally Pally history at the first ever Paddy Power World Darts Championship seemed the only option and thankfully our partners in the PDC agreed. Next stop, Strictly!”
