Alex Spellman is a debutant from America but Ryan Joyce has had a very solid year. He’s a no-nonsense player and he’s been a quarter-finalist here too.
He’s a big scorer and he’s a brilliant finisher and that will see him have too much for Spellman. That will set up a clash with Stephen Bunting. I’ll take Joyce to Win 3-0.
Next up is Richard Veenstra v Ben Robb. Veenstra is vastly experienced and he’s taking on Robb from New Zealand.
Robb is improving and this could be a little closer but Veenstra has explosive scoring power. He should have too much and he can win 3-1.
Luke Littler is on the big stage at Ally Pally and the 16-year-old faces off against Christian Kist.
Kist is having a couple of issues with his throw at the moment and it’s all come at the wrong time for him. Littler should win this comfortably so I’m with a 3-0 victory.
Finally, it’s the second-round tie between Peter Wright and Jim Williams.
Many are tipping up Williams to cause an upset and while he has a chance of doing so, Wright’s game is in a good place.
He won that European Championship a few months ago and he could go on a run. I like Wright to Win 3-1.
