Gunnar Holmberg is still under concussion protocol and he didn't practice today. It's unknown who will start for the Panthers. They will face a familiar foe in Texas state quarterback Layne Hatcher. He played for Arkansas State and won the Camellia Bowl against FIU. FIu's rushing attack was stifled in the season opener. Flex Joseph and E.J. Wilson had 58 yards on 16 carries.

Texas State lost their season-opener to Nevada 38-14. They have games against Baylor, Appalachian State and James Madison. The starting lineup features 20 upperclassmen, including 10 seniors. Quarterback Layne Hatcher is one of the more experienced quarterbacks in FBS football. FIU's Tyrese Chambers is a top-level receiver. The offensive line will have to contain an inconsistent pass rush. It will be Dalton Cooper's 26th consecutive start. He will need to account for Shaun Peterson Jr. and Alex Nobles. Sione Tupou is the most veteran player on the defensive line.
