Florida vs. LSU odds, props, predictions: Tigers big favorite despite Jayden Daniels injury concern

With only a few weeks remaining in the college football season, marquee matchups that promise entertaining endings must be on your watchlist. Saturday evening, the Florida Gators look to hand the No. 19 LSU Tigers their second-straight loss. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.

Here, we examine Florida vs. LSU odds, props, and predictions. The Tigers are favorites, with an OVER/UNDER total of . Florida can be found for on the monelyine.

Although neither team has a shot at making the SEC Championship Game, there's plenty on the line for each program. Florida (5-4) needs one more win for bowl eligibility, while LSU (6-3) could reach 10 wins with four more victories.

The potential wrench in this matchup is the status of Tigers QB Jayden Daniels, who has been in concussion protocol this week after exiting last week's loss due to a massive hit. Tigers head coach Brian Kelly has been non-committal on his status.

The big storyline about this matchup revolves around Daniels' status. The senior has been phenomenal this year, and his backup, Garrett Nussmeier, has yet to start a game in his career.

Florida betting news

Once again, the Gators (3-6 ATS) are tail-spinning toward the end of the season. Head coach Billy Napier may have bought himself an extra year in Gainesville by beating Tennessee in Week 3, but it's hard to wash the filth of last week's shocking loss to Arkansas.

The Gators have high-end talent at several key positions, including QB Graham Mertz. The offense has fared well since the opening game, producing 22 or more points in all but two games total. But the Gators struggle to put together complete games without costly mistakes.

Florida is prone to mental mistakes on both sides of the ball. That's generally been acceptable against lesser teams, but they've been blown out in three of their four losses against similar or better foes.

LSU betting news

The Tigers (5-4 ATS) ran into the Alabama buzzsaw last week, ending any conference title hopes that may have still existed. Despite the offense being quite explosive outside of Week 1's loss to Florida State, LSU again couldn't overcome Nick Saban.

The LSU offense has scored at least 34 points in every win this season, while the defense has given up at least 42 in every loss. This is a team of extremes that heavily relies on its offense to be elite.

They certainly have the playmakers to outscore any opponent, with Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. headlining the unit around Daniels. But the stress of scoring 40 or more every week almost always costs teams their season if the defense isn't respectable.

Florida vs. LSU prediction

Daniels has little reason to play beyond pride. He's produced a fantastic campaign that will intrigue NFL scouts more than ever expected. And if he doesn't play in this game, Florida becomes much more likely to cover, if not win.

The Gators have their own issues on both sides of the ball. Mertz has been shockingly effective, though, and facing a Nussmeier-led LSU offense means less pressure on the senior passer.

Look for this one to be an uglier game between two physical teams. The sloppier this game is, the more it favors a road cover.
