Formula 1 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix Odds & Picks

Max Verstappen looks to extend his current epic win streak to seven races at this weekend’s running of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Verstappen took his dream season to the next level with his first ever British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone two weeks ago, and has now finished among the top two in 20 of 22 Formula 1 races since July of last year.

Here’s a look at all the odds and trends ahead of the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday morning, with race time set for 9:00am ET at Hungaroring.

Odds to Win 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix

The winner at this event a year ago, Verstappen returns as a massive -300 favorite on the Hungary Grand Prix odds. Ricciardo In, de Vries Out at AlphaTauri

In a rather unexpected midseason development, veteran Daniel Ricciardo will return to the track this week after replacing rookie Nick de Vries at AlphaTauri. Ousted from his seat at McLaren after a disappointing 2022 F1 campaign, Ricciardo returned to Red Bull as a third driver to start the season. But with de Vries getting sacked after failing to pick up a point in his first 10 career F1 races, Ricciardo now enjoys a rare second chance.

The 34-year-old Australian has produced mixed results in Hungary, where he failed to earn a point in his three most recent appearances. However, he has also reached the podium on three previous occasions including his second career victory back in 2014. Ricciardo’s long history with Red Bull should provide him with some level of comfort in his return to the track. And while to duo of de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda have mustered just two total points for AlphaTauri so far this season, Ricciardo’s eagerness to prove his former McLaren masters wrong for dumping him make him worthy of a +225 value bet to crack the top 10.

McLaren Aim to Duplicate Silverstone Success

The McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri gave local fans plenty to cheer about at the British Grand Prix. The UK-based team produced their best results of the season by far, as Norris stormed to second place and a spot on the podium while Piastri produced a personal best with a fourth-place finish.

Recent upgrades have been key to McLaren’s recent success, particularly on the tough corners at Silverstone, where the duo held a clear edge over their Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari rivals. With the scene shifting to Hungaroring, Norris and Piastri could once again hold the edge. That makes it the ideal time to back Norris as a +285 bet to return to the podium in Hungary, while Piastri is worth backing as a +275 bet to produce his second career finish among the top six.

Can Checo Overcome Qualification Woes

Sergio Perez saw his recent woes extended two weeks ago in Britain, where he failed to qualify for the final round of qualifying for the fifth time in as many races. “Checo” inserted himself into the F1 championship conversation with two wins and two second-place finishes in the first four races of the season. But his shaky qualifying performances have forced him to regularly play catch-up on race day.

Perez has finished in the points just three times since making his debut at Hungaroring back in 2011. And with his chief rivals at Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren all enjoying the benefit of recent upgrades, he can ill afford another qualifying debacle. Accordingly, the talented Mexican should be faded on all odds, including his -120 odds of reaching the podium, until he has proven to have put his current struggles behind him.

  • Daniel Ricciardo points finish (+225)
  • Lando Norris podium (+175)
  • Oscar Piastri top six (+275)
