FRANKIE DETTORI'S rumoured ride in his final ever Arc de Triomphe has been slashed in price by nervous bookies.
No one has won the Paris showstopper more than Dettori, 52, who will ride off into the sunset at the end of this season.
But it looks like the six-time winner might have to rely on a rogue outsider to reach seventh heaven in France.
Dettori was reported by the Racing Post to have carried out a nice bit of work on John & Thady Gosden's Free Wind on the gallops at Newmarket on Wednesday morning.
The multiple Group-winning five-year-old mare is owned by George Strawbridge and went down just a head to Warm Heart in last month's Yorkshire Oaks.
Gosden Snr confirmed Dettori, who has ridden the horse to two of her six victories, was in the saddle and that the horse is set to go for the Arc.
He said: "Frankie rode Free Wind this morning in a piece of work and she went nicely.
"The plan is to leave her in the Arc at the next declaration stage."
On the back of that news Coral cut her price from 50-1 to 25-1 following a surge of support - the same price as Matt Chapman's big tip.
Bookie David Stevens said: "Having won the Arc a record six times, Frankie Dettori's final mount in the race was always going to attract plenty of interest.
"With Free Wind emerging as his possible Longchamp mount, odds of 50-1 have quickly been snapped up."
Free Wind has won more than £400,000 on the track but remains an outsider for the Arc with the awesome Ace Impact 10-3 fav.
Aidan O'Brien looks like having just one runner in it.
St Leger hero Continuous would need to be supplemented but the vibes from Ballydoyle are that he will cross the Channel to compete.
He is around an 8-1 chance while King George winner Hukum is second-fav at 9-2.
