FSU vs. UF: Preview, breakdown, analysis, prediction for Seminoles vs. Gators

No. 16 Florida State and No. 6 Florida are playing in the regular season finale on Friday. FSU has an outside chance at making the Orange Bowl. Florida has had a roller coaster of a year, with an upset win at home vs. Utah and two wins against SEC East competition.

Florida Gators are 6-5 this season. They lost to Vanderbilt. Their head coach is Billy Napier, who was an assistant coach at Florida State. He hired 50 people and made changes to the team. Florida hasn't been a national contender since 2012.

FSU has a strong offense that averages over 400 yards. It's all about Anthony Richardson, who has been inconsistent. He's a potential first-round talent, but he's been up-and-down on the field.

Richardson's mechanics and play on the run need to improve. Florida's receivers are not up to code and need improvement. Richardson needs to get better if he wants to stay at Florida.  Florida needs better pass catchers in the future. If Richardson goes to the draft, he should get a first or second-round grade.

Richardson is not running the offense well. He took a shot on the first drive of the game against Georgia. Florida would win the Vanderbilt game if Richardson was more free to take off.   The team needs Richardson to be able to use his outstanding skill set.

FSU's defense is allowing over 400 yards each game. Florida's defensive unit is down some key pieces and struggled at times in the loss to Vanderbilt. The team's problem is getting off the field on third down. If the team had a top two or three defense in SEC, some of the players from it would start on it. It's something that will be seen over the course of next two years.

FSU and Florida play each other on Friday. The game is a rivalry match. Florida State won the last game against Vanderbilt. The winner will be decided by the firepower of the team on offense. It will probably be a close game. Both teams will play a competitive game this time.
