Liverpool have won their previous five matches in all competitions and will take some stopping after Sunday’s 4-0 hammering of in-form Bournemouth.

That was Liverpool’s third clean sheet in those games and they have not lost a match in domestic competition since September. So Fulham have it all to do but Craven Cottage hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the Merseysiders in recent years and there was plenty in the first leg to suggest Fulham can be optimistic about avoiding defeat on Wednesday.

The Cottagers drew first blood at Anfield and looked solid until Curtis Jones equalised with a fortunate deflected shot for the Reds who until then had struggled to break down the London side.

Cody Gakpo turned the tie in Liverpool’s favour with a neat finish three minutes later but Fulham held their own for most of the match.

Liverpool last won at Craven Cottage in March 2019, since when both visits have ended all-square. That result would suffice for the 13-time finalists and only 25 per cent of sides have overturned a first-leg deficit at this stage of the competition to reach the final.

Fulham haven’t lost an EFL Cup home tie as a top-flight team since September 2007, but Liverpool have advanced to the final on eight of the nine previous occasions when they led after the first leg of a semi-final in this competition.

Fulham vs Liverpool tip 1: Draw @ 14/5 with Paddy Power

Hosts can draw first blood

Fulham winger Willian bagged the opening goal in the first leg at Anfield and the Cottagers look a decent bet to draw first blood in the return.

Marco Silva’s men have to go for broke in this contest and they could cause the Reds plenty of problems, particularly if Klopp tweaks his defence.

Liverpool have kept three clean sheets in their last five matches, but Fulham were one of the sides to breach them in that sequence.

They have drawn the past two meetings with the record nine-time winners of this trophy and they have broken the deadlock in five of the past six meetings at Craven Cottage, so we’re backing them to bag the opener again this week.

Fulham vs Liverpool tip 2: Fulham to score the first goal @ 6/4 with Paddy Power

Darwin’s evolution helps bet builder

A competitive contest can be expected at Craven Cottage and nobody loves a battle more than Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The combative Portuguese man of war has been booked 10 times in 25 matches this season and he looks a good place to start constructing a bet builder that pays out at just over 7/1 with Paddy Power.

Palhinha is likely to pick up a booking as he tries to disrupt Liverpool’s rhythm on Wednesday but it may not be enough to stop Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez getting on the scoresheet or providing an assist for a teammate.

Nunez has 10 goals and 10 assists for the Reds this season and he could play his part in a lively match that should see both teams get on the scoresheet to land a treble that yields a decent return.

Fulham vs Liverpool tip 3: Bet builder - Joao Palhinha shown a card, Both teams to score, Darwin Nunez to score or assist @ 7/1 with Paddy Power
