Georgia football: Early betting lines in for Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Clemson games

After failing to return to the College Football Playoff in 2023, Georgia is considered the No. 1 team in just aboutevery early top 25 ranking published to date. The consensus is that Georgia's biggest test of the 2024 season will come at Texas on Oct. 19, which makes sense, as the Longhorns are No. 2 in ESPN's Way-Too-Early Top 25. After that, either a Sept. 28 road game at Alabama or a Nov. 9 road game at Ole Miss is expected to provide the second-biggest challenge to the Dawgs during the regular season.

This month saw theFanDuel Sportsbookrelease early lines for many major college football matchups, including four Georgia games. For the Georgia at Texas matchup, FanDuel has Georgia marked as a 1.5-point road favorite. Georgia has faced Texas five times in the past but only once in Austin, which came back in 1958. The Bulldogs are 1-4 against the Longhorns with the last meeting being a 28-21 loss in the 2019 Sugar Bowl. Georgia’s only victory over Texas came in the 1984 Cotton Bowl when the Bulldogs won a 10-9 thriller.

FanDuel has the same line for two other conference road matchups, Georgia at Alabama and Georgia at Ole Miss, with the Dawgs listed as 3.5-point road favorites in both games. Georgia lost 27-24 to Alabama in the 2023 SEC Championship. That was the first meeting between the two teams since the 2022 College Football Playoff National Title Game, which the Bulldogs won 33-18. The 2024 game will be the first regular-season meeting between the two teams since 2020 when the Crimson Tide bested the Bulldogs 41-24.

Georgia beat Ole Miss 52-17 in Athens in 2023, increasing their lead in the series to 33-12-1 all-time, with Ole Miss having vacated the 45-14 home win over Kirby Smart in 2016 and Georgia having won the previous 10 matchups.

The other line revealed by FanDuel is Georgia vs Clemson in Atlanta, with the Dawgs listed as a 12.5-neutral site favorite over the Tigers. Georgia opened the 2021 season with a 10-3 win in Charlotte. Georgia owns a 43-18-4 advantage against the Tigers.
