Giants vs Reds Prediction

The Cincinnati Reds will host the San Francisco Giants for game three of their four-game set this Wednesday from Great American Ball Park. San Francisco held on to win a shootout in game two, 11-10.

Giants Betting Preview

San Francisco comes in at 54-41 after defeating Cincinnati. The Giants have now won seven straight games, and they’ll look to keep rolling here Wednesday. The San Francisco offense is scoring 4.81 runs per game, while batting .250, with a .326 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.89 ERA, with a 1.29 WHIP. Mike Conforto has produced a run in six of the last seven games, and he leads San Fran in home runs (13) and RBI (51). J.D Davis recorded a hit in the game two win, and he’s second on the team in RBI (47). Wilmer Flores went off and homered twice in the game two victory, and he’s posting splits of .292/11/30.

Ross Stripling (0-2, 6.11 ERA, 40 Ks) will start for San Francisco. The eighth-year has somewhat found a niche as a spot starter in the Bay, while leaving plenty more desired. Stripling started the second half of the campaign with one of his longer outings, going 4.2 innings while tying a season-high with six strikeouts, and holding Pittsburgh to two runs. Stripling has allowed two runs or less in four starts since returning in late June, and he’ll attempt to open strong in Cincy on Wednesday.

Reds Betting Preview

Cincinnati moved to 50-46 after losing to San Francisco. The Reds find themselves skidding at the wrong time, and they’ll look to avoid a seventh straight loss here. The Cincinnati offense is scoring 3.78 runs per game, while batting .257, with a .334 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.96 ERA, with a 1.46 WHIP. Spencer Steer had multiple hits in the game two defeat, and he leads the team in hits (93), home runs (14), with 51 RBI. Jonathan India had three hits in the game one loss, and he leads the Reds in runs (67), with splits of .250/14/50. Jake Fraley homered in the Bay last night, and he leads Cincy in RBI (56), with 13 homers.

Graham Ashcraft (4-7, 5.95 ERA, 63 Ks) will get the call for Cincinnati. The second-year righty pitched well in his return from break despite taking the loss, holding Milwaukee to one run over six innings of work. Ashcraft has tossed three straight quality starts, and after struggling during May and June, he’ll look to keep this form going.

San Francisco vs Cincinnati Trends

San Francisco is 54-40 against the spread this season, with a 41-45-6 O/U record. Cincinnati is 40-52 ATS this year, with a 40-47-5 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Wow, these two clubs have swapped roles, as San Francisco is surging, while Cincinnati is skidding in the wrong direction. Game three feels like a spot for the tide to turn, as the Reds will carry an advantage into this contest, and they need a win badly. San Fran’s offense comes sporadically, and if Cincy can get a good outing from Graham Ashcraft, they can get back into the win column. Back Cincinnati on Wednesday.
