Great British Bake Off 2022 contestants revealed

The Great British Bake Off is back on Channel 4 on September 13 at 8 pm. The contestants for the 2022 series have been revealed.

Abdul is an electronics engineer from London and a self-confessed space nerd. He and his colleagues baked for each other to brighten up their coffee breaks. Matcha is among his favourite flavours.

Carole lives on a Dorset hillside with her husband Michael. She has a radio show called 'Compost Carole' and shares her gardening knowledge with listeners. Carol started baking for her granddaughter Maisie's first birthday.

Dawn is 60, IT manager from Bedfordshire. She lives with her partner Trevor and is mother to three, step-mother to two and gran/step-gran to four. Her favourite flavours are lemon, salted caramel and anything nutty.

James is a nuclear scientist from Cumbria. He grew up in Glasgow and moved to England after university. James is an avid music fan and a board game geek. His favourite autumnal flavours are mixed spice, apples and caramel.

Janusz is a 34-year-old personal assistant to a head teacher from East Sussex. He moved to the UK 10 years ago and lives with his boyfriend Simon and their sausage dog Nigel. Janusza's favourite pastimes are baking, watching drag, collecting movie props and collecting film props.

Kevin is a saxophonist, flute player, piano player and clarinet player from Lanarkshire. He is devoted to his family and loves to spend time with them. Kevin began baking when he was 17.

Maisam is a student and sales assistant from Greater Manchester. She has lived in the UK since she was nine and speaks five languages. Maisam has been baking since about 13 years old and she loves the science required to get a bake right.

Maly studied fine art and went on to achieve a Masters degree in Architecture. She has two daughters, Tyra and Talia. Maxy is an architectural assistant from London.

Rebs is a masters student from County Antrim. She spent her childhood in the countryside in Northern Ireland and loves everything to do with Irish culture. Her earliest baking memory is of being a child, aged only three years old. Recently she has started to play around with Middle Eastern ingredients in a nod to her boyfriend, Jack's Turkish family heritage.

Sandro fled Angola during the war and settled in London. He is a keen boxer, dancer and a nanny. His father died when he was 21. Sandro started baking as a form of therapy.

Syabira is a cardiovascular research associate from London. She moved to the UK in 2013 to study for her PhD and she is happily settled in London with her boyfriend Bradley. Syabra started baking recently with a red velvet cake.

Will grew up in Bristol and studied in Liverpool. He lives in London with his wife and three children. Will has a background in architecture and loves cooking. His favourite flavours are salted caramel and paprika.

The new series of The Great British Bake Off starts on Tuesday, September 13 at 8 pm on Channel 4.
