Greyhound Tips Today: Betting Picks For Tonight's Racing

16.34 Swindon – Trap 4 Chesters Boy – 1pt

This is a very moderate race and will not take much winning. Chesters Boy is still something of a greenhorn, but he came on leaps and bounds in his second-ever race last week. Although not the quickest away, he showed mad puppy pace and enthusiasm on the run to the first bend and soon led.

He tired on the run for home and was caught close to the line, but could find further improvement on the back of that run. Tonight’s rivals are all fully exposed and Chesters Boy, albeit at cramped odds, could make short work of the task ahead if he gets loose early again.

20.38 Romford – Trap 4 Hollow Man – 1pt

There is top-class racing at Romford tonight with the six heats of the £20,000 to the winner Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes over 575 metres down for decision. On paper, the race of the night comes in heat three with Sussex Cup champion Candolim Monsoon meeting one of the sport’s up-and-coming stars in Hollow Man.

Hove-based handler Derek Knight trains both and they cannot be split after recording identical times in separate warm-up races over course and distance in the middle of September. However, the lightly raced Hollow Man probably has the most potential for improvement.

He was one win from four in Ireland and has settled in superbly well since joining Knight in June, coming second on his debut in the UK before racking up six straight wins in exemplary fashion. The most pleasing aspect about Hollow Man is how well he handled the Romford course.

He was given a trial at what can be a very tricky track and found three lengths of improvement for that look when winning his first race at the track. He looked remarkably smooth when taking the bends and Hollow Man is capable of further improvement.

Candolim Monsoon has been aimed at this event since winning the Sussex Cup at the end of July and ran well when second in the Select Stakes at Nottingham at the end of August before attention turned to Romford and the Champion Stakes.

It promises to be an enlightening clash between the ante-post market leaders but Hollow Man is capable of finding another length or two and will be particularly hard to beat if he gets first run on his kennel mate.

20.54 Romford – Trap 2 Minnie Bullet – 1pt

Minnie Bullet has become something of a course specialist at Romford and certainly one of the toughest to beat over course and distance. She has never been in finer fettle and has won her last five races over course and distance.

She recently put in an excellent performance in the £10,000 Empress Stakes at Towcester, where she went down by less than a length in a tight three-way finish.

Minnie Bullet clearly thrives on her racing and she could win with the minimum of fuss if, as expected, she makes another fast start.
