Happy Valley Preview & Best Bets
After the Hong Kong International Races, we head back to Happy Valley for a competitive nine-race program at the city circuit. The rail is in the B course position, so look for some on speed types to get some advantage. Racing is scheduled to start at 6:45 pm HKT (9:50 pm AEDT).
Beauty Tycoon is the best bet of the day. He won by 1.8 lengths at Happy Valley last start on November 23. Zac Purton and John Size are riding him. Jumbo Legend and California Cible are also in the race.
Savvy Chic is looking for back-to-back wins. Silvestre de Sousa elected to lead on this son of Capitalist. Savvy Chis beat Gold Gold Baby and Howdeepisyourlove at Happy Valley last time out. He gets a 3.5kg penalty for that.
Melbourne Hall has won two of his last three starts. He was beaten by Nordic Dragon on November 23. Melbourne Hall drew the perfect gate from barrier three. The 4.5kg claim for apprentice Angus Chung will come in very handy.
Durham Star is a consistent sprinter. He drew barrier six first-up and won on September 21. Since then he has found barriers 12 and 9. Last start at Happy Valley he was cast three wide without cover the entire trip. Hugh Bowman should be able to find cover this time from a perfect draw.
