After landing a tasty 14/1 winner at Sandown on Friday, our friends at Tipstrr have teamed up to provide another couple of each-way selections from one of the biggest handicaps of the day at Haydock.

15:15 Haydock: Old Newton Cup Handicap (1 mile 3 furlongs 175 yards)

We could be here all day writing about those in with a chance of winning this wide-open handicap, and with all but the favourite currently offering each-way value and bookies offering up to six places, there's clearly plenty of betting options.

Just two winning favourites in the last 20 runnings of the Old Newton Cup (and none in the last 10) suggest that La Yakel is sipping from a poisoned chalice at the top of the betting, although he could yet justify the favourite mantle if his season debut continues where he left off as a three-year-old last term.

If he falters, then there are plenty queueing up behind him, with Maksud looking the most likely threat, assuming his disappointing run in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot was just a temporary blip.

Carrying more each-way value, and most widely punted within the Tipstrr camp is the William Haggas-trained Gaassee, who is looking to recapture the form that saw him land four of his first five outings as a three-year-old - a winning streak that ended with a third-placed finish behind Get Shirty in this very race 12 months ago.

Three subsequent outings included a disappointing showing in the Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot last time out, but this return to a shorter 12-furlong trip might be the catalyst to help him get back on track.

For any punters looking for a higher-tariff outsider bet, then the bottom-weighted horse is never a bad place to start.

Richard Fahey's Wootton'sun broke his duck at the 11th attempt at Windsor last September and his performances so far this term suggest it is only a matter of time before he doubles that tally.

Two runner-up spots and a third place have all seen him come within two lengths of the winner, and now he teams up with the in-form Joe Fanning who is boasting an impressive 20% win rate this season (51 winners from 253 rides), not to mention an additional 54 frame finishes.

With a 6-to-18-pound weight advantage on the market leaders and those extra each-way places up for grabs, Wootton'sun might just be getting a mention from the ITV commentator in the closing stages.
