Heat at Knicks Prediction

The Miami Heat and the New York Knicks duke it out at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.

The Miami Heat have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after sneaking past the Cavaliers in a 100-97 road win on Tuesday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 23 points, five assists and three steals while Caleb Martin, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro scored 18 points each. As a team, the Heat shot 43 percent from the field and 14 of 31 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Cavaliers in a close contest until the final 2:57 where they held the Cavaliers to just four points to escape with the gritty win in the end.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a real slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting stopped by the Lakers in a 129-123 overtime loss on Tuesday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 37 points and six assists on 13 of 29 shooting, Julius Randle added 23 points with 12 rebounds and five assists while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 19 points and eight assists off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 44 percent from the field and seven of 34 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to rally back from a 10-point deficit to send the game into overtime where they scored just nine points to allow the Lakers off the hook in a close game.

Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win. The Knicks are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.

Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Heat are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and the Heat are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in New York.

The Heat are shorthanded once again as Victor Oladipo and Duncan Robinson are both out while the Knicks are again missing Mitchell Robinson. The Heat come into this meeting as the team in better shape and they looked particularly good in their gritty win over the Cavaliers in their last outing, so it's tough to make an argument for the Knicks who are coming into this one fresh off a tough overtime loss. I expect the Knicks to be able to hang around for most of the contest, but the Heat are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and I think they keep that trend going with another hard-fought win here.
