High School Football Picks: First round of playoffs

The playoffs begin Thursday. There are no games on Friday because of Nevada Day. The defending 5A state champion Bishop Gorman football team outscored Las Vegas opponents 335-0 in five games during the regular season. Defending 4A champion Silverado has given up just 23 points on the season, while the 3A champ Moapa Valley hasn't lost in the last two seasons.

Desert Pines will beat Palo Verde 42-13 in the first round of the playoffs.

Clark beats Desert Oasis 24-22 in the first round of the playoffs.
