The 12 runners for Australian racing’s richest prize have been assembled and saddlecloth numbers allocated ahead of Saturday’s $20m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick.

This year’s field is made up of seven entires and geldings, three mares and two three-year-old colts.

TJ Smith Stakes winner I Wish I Win has the honour of carrying the number one saddlecloth while last year’s runner-up Private Eye is number two.

BARRIER DRAW WINNERS AND LOSERS

WINNERS

THINK ABOUT IT: Perfect draw in gate 5 to settle not too far off the speed.

OVERPASS: Shouldn’t have to work too hard to lead from barrier 2.

ESPIONA: Should be able to settle closer from gate 3.

CYLINDER: Gate 4 gives Zac Lloyd the chance to settle right on the speed.

LOSERS

I WISH I WIN: Trainer Peter Moody didn’t want gate 1 and he got it. Luke Nolen will need a lot of luck from the inside gate.

PRIVATE EYE: Connections would have preferred to draw closer in than barrier 9.

IN SECRET: The widest gate makes her task incredibly tough.

MAZU: They wanted to draw closer to the inside but gate 11 will require a herculean effort.

The Everest will be run at 4:15pm AEDT on Saturday October 14 at Royal Randwick Racecourse.
