Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets for Australasian Oaks Day at Morphettville

There’s Group 1 racing at Morphettville on Saturday.

South Aussie form student Heath Pope believes a filly he recently declared as a blackbooker can pay dividends for his followers at the Morphettville meeting on Saturday.

Here are this week's tips.

FOUR WINDS (Race 1 No 7) She doesn't win too often however not a lot has gone her way in recent runs. Despite this she hasn't been far away her past few starts. Last time out she covered plenty of ground when beaten 2-1/4 lengths and that was a tougher race than this is. Gets in here with the same weight while importantly, mapping to stalk the leaders. If ever there was another race for this mare, then this is it and she's a bet at $4 or better. BET: WIN

CONFRONTATIONAL (Race 2 No 4) This horse could be a big improver coming into this second-up from a freshen over his preferred trip of 1600m. The 1400m last start was too short while it has also been quite a while since he's got into a race with just 58kg. It also wouldn't shock to see Todd Pannell have him closer in the run which also appeals. If he can show improvement he's more than capable of, then I'm convinced he is right in this. Rates at $6. BET: EACH-WAY

TREASURWAY (Race 5 No 5) Consistent filly that has a bright future that should appreciate this drop in class. The recent placings have been stronger races and she's been hitting the line hard on each occasion. She is also an acceptor at Sandown however given Craig Williams is booked here while there is no rider on in Melbourne, it's fair to assume she will be on the float to SA. Shapes as the perfect race for her to break through and secure a black-type victory. Rates on top at $3. BET: WIN

RAVIN (Race 8 No 15) She finished fifth last start in the Auraria Stakes and the run was an herculean effort after conceding her more fancied rivals a huge start. Her last 600m was clear race fastest and to be beaten just 1-1/2 lengths was the effort of a promising young stayer with a bright future. The step up to 2000m is the big tick and while she tackles the boys here, I still think she has been grossly overlooked in the early markets. Rates a value play at $10 or better. BET: EACH-WAY
