Horse Racing Tips from Early Market Movers 22/7/23

The early betting action is again providing us with an excellent guide on runners who are “ready” and likely to show intent.

We are racing at the newly renovated Caulfield circuit on Saturday and there's been a massive play in the third event from a camp who loves a plunge.

Whilst at Rosehill, Uncle Chris is at it again and looks to have a number of runners peaking for their off-season Winter targets.

Caulfield Tips

Caulfield

Rolls

Is from a shrewd betting stable in Maddie Raymond, who loves to get them to peak on command.

While this horse is well exposed now after a deep campaign, they have given him a soft lead-up to this event.

As a result, they may show much more intent here in the small field to end his prep with a bang.

This is the easiest field he has faced this campaign and ridden closer to the speed he could simply brain them.

Cuban Link

This mare has been going well without winning in recent months.

The lack of wins is failing to deter the market, as they continue to pile in and this suggests she is showing plenty at home.

Granted they are now deep in the prep and time is running out, this may mean they have poured everything into her for this run.

She maps well from the mid-draw (gate 8) where they should find the moving line midfield with cover, before looming to win late.

Big Watch

This gelding is now rock-hard fit and ready to fire.

He can ride the speed with his added stamina in what is likely to be a plan to grind them all into the ground.

He drops back in grade from a Stakes race last start and should certainly appreciate the class respite.

Provided he handles Caulfield for the first time, he can be in the finish.

It’sourtime

A quality sprinter who in the past has mixed it with the best and finds a race that does not look overly strong.

The O’Brien stable is starting to hit form and this may indicate the systems are in a good place, with key processes around the yard including feed, back to their best.

He has solid enough stats at the track to suggest he could be suited here and if they overdo it up front look for him late.

Rosehill Tips

rosehill

Inhibitions

Quality Godolphin 2YO filly who has shown talent throughout her young career.

She didn’t seem as comfortable when the team stretched her out over a distance (1600m) last preparation.

Now back to 1200m here, she looks very well placed.

The low draw (gate 1) allows the rider to sit just in behind the first pair before weaving a passage and pouncing on them late.

Kirkeby

They rode him forward last start against his usual pattern and nearly pulled it off at Randwick over the 2000m.

I’d suggest the tough close-to-the-speed run last start will have him topped off nicely for this, and it could have been purely a tactic to increase his fitness.

The “Cowboy” is booked again and will be desperate to re-pay the support from Chris Waller.

Waverider Buoy

Was an excellent run here last start where she ran home over the top of them, off only a moderate/slow tempo.

The last start win may not have been expected as there was a lack of intent early and this may have been the target race all along.

Although drawn wide, gun rider Jason Collett will show some initiative early and attempt to find a position mid-field in the moving line with cover.

Looks well placed to go back-to-back.

Chorlton Lane

Maher/Eustace import who won here last start at his Australian debut.

On that occasion, plenty was against him after getting well back in the run over an unsuitable 1300m.

He is another that showed above average ability to get home hard in a slowly run race and given more tempo here, he can be even more dynamic.

The step up to 1500m suits and he appears to pick plenty of boxes here for punters.

Yes.
