Horse Racing Tips Wednesday 9th August 2023 best bets and most tipped horses

Six horse racing fixtures will take place on Wednesday with the action kicking off at Pontefract at 14:20, while there's alternative afternoon racing at Bath and Brighton. There are a trio of evening fixtures from Sligo, Yarmouth and Kempton for punters to enjoy and we pick out some of the most eye-catching naps from our racing tipsters. As well as that we look at some of the big racing stories and looking forward to some competitive weekend action on the track...

Jeffrey Ross from the Sporting Times has been in sensational tipping form over the last week as he has notched up a sparking string of six winning naps on the bounce, and the red-hot tipster will attempt to make it a magnificent seven in a row this afternoon when he heads to Pontefract for his best bet of the day. Siding with the Adrian Keatley-trained Bay Of Australia, Ross will be hoping the 8/1 shot can improve on a fourth placed effort at Catterick last time out and today's maiden looks a very winnable race if he can build on that effort. Royal Zabeel is a huge danger and is a short-priced favourite for the race, but Bay Of Australia will have the benefit of more experience and could be the value play in an intriguing event at 14:50.

Karl Burke's Tele Red has proven the most popular horse amongst our racing tipsters on Wednesday as six of them have napped that 9/4 shot for the 16:20 at Pontefract. Other selections to catch the eye of several tipsters today include Sir Michael Stoute's Point Given, who is a red-hot 10/11 favourite for the 15:20 at Pontefract, while two hours later in the 17:20 event the Archie Watson-trained Corinthia Knight is another napped by four tipsters and the 5/1 shot is an eye-catching contender at Pontefract.

Horseracing.net says: "It's hard to look away from Point Given, who looks a really solid option in the 15:20 at Ponte, but Corinthia Knight is the one to take from the aforementioned trio as the five-times course-and-distance winner is a real class act at the Yorkshire venue and at 5/1 can't be ignored. His last win at the track came off a mark of 74 and he takes his chance off 63 today, so if he can recapture any old form then has to be respected here."

Farringdon of the Morning Star remains at the top of the naps table with a profit of £30.23 and heads to Bath's afternoon fixture for the best bet of the day and the high-flying tipster has napped the 10/1 shot Oriental Spirit in the 14:40 contest. Sixth at Salisbury last time out off 62, Stuart Kittow's charge runs off 60 this afternoon, so has to be given a notable squeak at big prices. Second placed tipster Jason Heavey from The Star waits until Yarmouth's evening meeting for his best bet of the day and has napped the 7/4 chance Hourless in the 19:20 race, while the third placed tipster Marlborough from the Daily Telegraph has napped the 2/1 chance Crow's Nest in the 15:00 at Brighton.
