Horse racing's 'biggest-ever winner' makes history at 300/1 odds

Sawbuck won the Bar One Racing Quick Deposit & Withdraw Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown at 300/1 odds on Tuesday. It was the longest odds win in British or Irish horse racing. Charlie O'Dwyer Jr. rode the gelding twice before, placing 14th and 16th. He was also in the saddle when Sawbuck finished 55 lengths off the pace in his last jump outing in November. The horse was listed as a 250/1000 outsider on that occasion. The €7,375 (£6,300) first-place prize purse more than doubled the race winnings he's accrued so far in 2022.
