HorseCenter: Early picks for all 14 Breeders' Cup races
This week on HorseCenter, your hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman turn up their coverage by offering early top picks for all 14 races for the world championships at Santa Anita.
Matt and Brian have very early selections for all five Friday races for 2-year-olds and for Saturday’s nine Grade 1 stakes. It is hard to know at this point which international horses will show up in the entries for the world championships on Nov. 3 and 4 at Santa Anita. Regardless, the guys have made eight horses from overseas their preview top picks in some of the turf races.
This year the Classic will not be the last Breeders’ Cup race on Saturday so the big race better fits into national television coverage. The official order of races will be announced on Oct. 25, two days after the deadline for pre-entries. The Classic is expected to have a large number of 3-year-olds who will take on older horses. Brian’s early pick is from the older division, but Matt sticks with a 3-year-old.
