HorseCenter: Breeders' Cup Classic rankings, Turf Cup picks
This week on HorseCenter, your co-hosts Brian Zipse and Matt Shifman take their first serious look at the Breeders' Cup Classic with current rankings and odds, as well as analysis and top picks for the Grade 2 Kentucky Turf Cup from Kentucky Downs.
With the elite summer meetings coming to an end and the Breeders’ Cup only eight weeks away, Matt and Brian begin their coverage of the world championships. The guys present their top 12 rankings for the Classic along with projected odds. With Arcangelo’s win in the Travers (G1) and Arabian Knight and Geaux Rocket Ride dominating the Pacific Classic (G1), 3-year-olds will play a significant role at Santa Anita on Nov. 4.
The lucrative Kentucky Downs meeting continues Saturday with the Kentucky Turf Cup for the older male horses going 1 1/2 miles. The full field of veteran turf horses includes three from trainer Mike Maker and two from Brandon Walsh. Therapist and Red Knightfrom the Maker trio of are among the favorites in the morning line. You will find a 30-1 long-shot pick in the analysis from the guys.
