Mick Channon is a successful horse trainer. He started training after retiring from football. His first horse, Cathy Jane, won three races and he bought her for £440 in 1973. In 2002 he saddled 123 winners and won almost £4m. He had nearly 200 horses under his watch at West Ilsley stables near Newbury. The horse Mishriff won the world's richest race earlier this year. Mick was involved in a car crash in 2008 that killed his friend Tim Corby. It was the first time he had been involved with a fatal car accident. he was a player for Manchester City, Newcastle and Norwich.
