A rematch three years in the making kicks off Bellator's return to Hawaii on April 21. Liz Carmouche will defend the Bellator flyweight title against DeAnna Bennett.
The fight will be inside Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, with the event being only for military and first responders. In The U.S., Bellator 294 will be available on Showtime.
A member of the Marine Corps, with three tours of duty, Carmouche turned pro in 2010. Competing for Strikeforce and Invicta, "Girl-Rilla" joined the UFC in 2013 and lost to Ronda Rousey in a bout for the inaugural UFC bantamweight title. Carmouche was 5-5 in the UFC before being released, even after signing a new deal.
Joining Bellator in 2020, she defeated Bennett via submission in her debut and is now 5-0 with the promotion. In 2022, Carmouche beat Juliana Velasquez for the Bellator flyweight title. Her last bout was in December, when she scored a submission win over Velasquez is a rematch.
Bennett turned pro in 2012 and was an Invicta regular from 2014 to 2019. After losing against Carmouche at Bellator 246, she has put together a three-fight win streak. Her last bout, which took place in August, was a rematch win over Justine Kish, who she had also defeated six months earlier.
