Huge betting bans Prem stars were handed as Ivan Toney faces misconduct charge
Ivan Toney has been charged by the FA for breaching their betting rules. The Brentford striker allegedly made 232 illicit bets between February 2017 and January 2021. He has until Thursday to respond to the charge. Tony was left out of Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad despite scoring 10 goals in 14 Premier League matches this season.
Daniel Sturridge was found guilty of betting rules breach and received a four-month ban from football and a £150,000 fine. Ivan Toney faces a misconduct charge.
Joey Barton was banned from football for 18 months in 2016 after placing over 1,200 bets over a 10-year period. Ivan Toney was also charged with misconduct.
Kieran Trippier was on the verge of moving to Atletico Madrid in July 2019. He informed his friends via WhatsApp group chat about it. His friends bet on it happening and he was fined £70,000.
Martin Demichelis was charged £22,000 for betting on football matches in May 2016. Ivan Toney was also charged with betting but escaped without a ban.
Andros Townsend lost £46,000 in one night during the 2012/13 season. He was suspended for four months for the breach of betting regulations.
