IF the Golden Knights Make It Into the Playoffs Will It Be Worth It?

The focus for the Vegas Golden Knights is making it to the playoffs for a fifth-straight season. The two routes they could take are to be the second Wild Card team in the Western Conference or third in Pacific Division. Colorado Avalanche have clinched first place in Western conference and will play whoever the other Wild card team is. Edmonton Oilers are more or less guaranteed to remain second in their division.

The Golden Knights have three active Stanley Cup Champions on their roster. Alex Pietrangelo, Chandler Stephenson and Alec Martinez won the Stanley Cups. Jack Eichel and Logan Thompson have no playoff experience. If the Golden Knight make it into the playoffs, they will need to rely on experience and intangibles. If they don't, their chances of success will be limited.

The Golden Knights have seven players on LTIR. If they make the playoffs, they will have players that can return from injury. Reilly Smith will be available if the Golden Knight make it. Nolan Patrick, William Carrier, Brett Howden, Nicolas Hague, and Laurent Brossoit could also be back from injuries.

The Golden Knights are a potential Wild Card team. Colorado Avalanche are the best team in the NHL. They have a goal differential of +83 and seven players with 50+ points. Calgary Flames head coach Darryl Sutter doesn't want to play Colorado in first round.

The Golden Knights are currently playing against the Avalanche. If they do make it into the playoffs, they could face the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are a top-heavy team with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Goaltending is sketchy for the Oil.

Golden Knights play their final home game Sunday at 7:00 pm. They take on the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. The game will decide the fate of the team's season.
