DARTS star Owen Bates is set to make his debut at the World Championships.

And fans can’t wait to get a glimpse of the man with the rudest nickname in sport.

Darts ace Bates, 20, is currently ranked 125 in the PDC Order of Merit.

But the popular ace secured an incredible second-place finish at the Challenge Tour Order of Merit.

And along with other great showings over the past year, Bates has now qualified for next month’s World Championships.

Bates will be hoping to cut it alongside darts’ top superstars at the Ally Pally.

However, he is already head and shoulders above the competition thanks to his nickname.

Move over Gerwyn ‘The Iceman’ Priyce and Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright.

That’s because Bates’ nickname is ‘Master’.

And when put into his full name, it reads Alan ‘Master’ Bates.

It is undoubtedly the rudest nickname in the world of sports.

And darts fans are desperate for Bates to use it when he takes to the oche at the World Championships.

One said: “Let him keep his nickname please PDC.”

Another declared: “Don’t make him change his nickname.”

One noted: “The Master.”

Another added: “Well done Owen.”
